WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE:
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce (required)
  • CPA designation in progress or recently completed is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of ASPE
  • A self-directed, proactive approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting including reconciliations, journal entries and month-end close process
  • A genuine passion for the real estate development industry is required, previous experience in real estate is an asset
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • A good sense of humor!
 
A DAY IN THE LIFE
You'll walk into our vibrant downtown office and grab a cup of Starbucks from our kitchen. Reporting to our Corporate Controller, you will play a key role in helping our team be a business partner to the organization.
 
YOU WILL:
  • Manage day-to-day pre-development projects (prior to commitment), completed projects and corporate accounting including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, GL hard close
  • Manage Pre-development project cost tracking and cash management
  • Prepare Completed Project working papers, proforma updates and financial statements, where required
  • Prepare equity accounting for all our projects, including recording investment contributions, distributions, and equity pick-up entries as well as preparing supporting working paper and related reporting
  • Track and manage letter of credits, coordinating with internal teams to obtain updates on releases and preparing our internal tracker and ensuring quarterly reporting updates are accurate/complete
  • Track and manage our corporate debt including draws, intercompany loans and covenant calculations
  • Prepare monthly investment and project debt summary reporting for Investors
  • Prepare monthly and quarter-end working papers
  • Prepare tax filings and regulatory reports
  • Implement and improve internal controls, processes, and reporting tools to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Assist with the year end audit
  • Actively participate in system implementations and ad hoc projects, as required

Compensation

$68,000.00 - $77,000.00 per year
